Your personal telephone service will be billed to you based on your usage. Listed below are instructions to assist you in activating your personal telephone service and information on other utility services provided for you in your apartment.
TELEPHONE
SBC
(800) 310-2355 or 611
Request to have your phone line activated. Be sure to give the phone company your apartment number and bedspace number labeled on the jack. The cost of the telephone is at the resident's expense. All apartments will have multiple working phone jacks. Each bedroom has the capacity of a separate phone line for each resident, should this be desired, rather than just one phone line for each apartment. The telephone company can usually turn the phone on without an onsite appointment. We do require that all residents have their current telephone number on file at the International Village RSO. My new phone number is:____________________________________. Please come to the RSO for assistance.
Kitchen phone: Your apartment should be equipped with one (1) kitchen telephone with basic local service. Please contact the International Village RSO for a user’s manual.
Bedroom phones: Your apartment is also equipped with one (1) functional telephone connection per resident. You will need to arrange for service and provide an actual telephone. If you desire an additional telephone connection, special telephone services, or billing assistance you will need to contact the local telephone company and the RSO. Currently, SBC is our local telephone service provider. Long distance service may be arranged with alternate companies. Please consult your telephone directory or do an Internet search for alternate companies.
In additional to ensuring that telephone connections in your apartment are operational, we are also responsible for maintaining the condition of existing interior telephone wiring. If you do not have operational telephone connections upon move-in or if, during your residency, you encounter problems with your telephone service, please contact the RSO for assistance. Repairs that are determined to be within the extent of responsibility will be arranged and/or paid for by International Village.

SATELLITE, TV SERVICE, ELECTRICITY, WATER, GAS, AND TRASH
Satellite television, electricity, water, gas, and trash service is provided to the resident. Your wise use of electricity, water and gas is much appreciated and will help keep your rent from increasing. All trash from the individual bedroom or living areas is to be disposed of by the resident in the trash chutes located on each floor. Individual trash receptacles in the project are for convenience only, not for household trash disposal.
INTERNET
Each resident has access to International Village’s high-speed network, which achieves some of the fastest internet speeds available. In order to take advantage of this free service, you will need to equip your personal computer with an ethernet card. Ethernet cards can be purchased at the UCR Bookstore for as little as $20.00.
International Village offers the latest high-speed wireless Internet technology. Residents with laptops can take advantage of this free service by purchasing an IEEE 802.11b compliant PC card. Wireless access points in closets are for use by International Village staff members only. If it is determined that the access point has been altered, resident(s) of the respective bedroom will be assessed a maximum fee of $1100.00
Please contact the International Village RSO if you have difficulty initiating service or encounter any other complications with your Ethernet connectivity during your residency. See UCR Housing Code for usage policy.
SATELLITE TELEVISION
Each International Village bedroom and living room is provided with DirecTV premium satellite service as a standard amenity. Please contact the RSO for a channel guide.
WATER SERVICE
Water service for International Village apartments is paid for by International Village. Your wise use of water is therefore much appreciated and will help keep your rent from increasing.
You can help us conserve water by taking reasonable showers/baths, turning off the water during shaving and brushing your teeth, washing only full loads of laundry, and by promptly reporting the following items to the RSO: (1) drippy faucets or showers, (2) toilets that continuously “run,” and (3) continuously flooded areas on the International Village property.
In most cases, residents will be given advance notification of an intended shut off of water service. However, during emergencies (e.g. broken water lines), water service to the International Village complex or to random buildings within the complex may necessarily be shut off without advance notice. We apologize in advance for these inconveniences and thank you for your patience while related repairs are in process. Please feel free to contact the RSO for information about the status of any water shutdowns.
TRASH
Any trash generated by residents must be disposed of in chutes situated on every floor. Large pieces should be disposed of in any of the large dumpster accessible from the parking lot.
Apartment trash should not be disposed of in the smaller trash receptacles located throughout International Village. Violators will be charged for the handling of this personal waste. Because of fire and pest issues, residents may not store personal trash or trash receptacles on patios, landings, or decks. Residents in violation will be notified and given a time parameter during which time they will be required to remove the item in question or be charged for its removal by International Village staff.
