Your personal and property safety are important to us. Help protect yourself with the following crime prevention tips:
• Avoid walking alone at night, either on or off campus. For an escort from the campus to your car, apartment, etc., contact the Campus Escort Service at 909.827.3772 or ask a friend to accompany you.
• Avoid shortcuts and dark, isolated areas.
• Walk purposefully. Know where you are going.
• Have your door keys ready. Carry them in your pocket or hand, not in your purse.
• Always lock your car.
• Lock bikes to racks with hardened-alloy locks and chains, or U-shaped locks. Consider locking your bike in the bicycle enclosure near the International Village pool area.
• Do not leave any valuables or property visible inside of your car.
• Store valuables out of sight as much as possible in your apartment.
• If you find yourself in trouble, use emergency call box phones located on campus. The Campus Police will answer these phones and will provide assistance.
• If you observe suspicious individuals in the complex, do not hesitate to contact the Campus Police at 9-1-1 from your apartment phone or an emergency call box.
• If you drink, drink responsibly and stay in control. Most assaults and accidents involve alcohol.
• Look into your car before entering. Lock doors and roll up windows once inside for protection.
• Never leave your apartment door unlocked, whether you are at home or not. Secure all money and valuables. If a theft should occur, contact the Campus Police.
• Residents are advised to carry personal property insurance for their belongings. The University assumes no responsibility or liability and provides no insurance or financial protection for a resident's personal property. Policy information is available at the RSO.
• Residents are encouraged to check out the engraver from the RSO in order to mark their property with an identification number (i.e. drivers license, social security number).
• Report any safety-related problems to International Village staff.
