Services

International Village is committed to maintaining high standards for health, safety, and security in International Village. Individuals who jeopardize the health, safety, and security of others by not following health and safety procedures will be subject to disciplinary action from not only International Village, but also the University and civil authorities. All residents and their guests must adhere to the following health and safety regulations.

CAMPUS POLICE

The Campus Police and the Riverside Police provide protection for International Village. They are here to assist in keeping your living environment safe and secure. Your alertness and assistance in reporting suspicious activities or individuals help in providing this type of environment.

The Campus Police have a direct line to a 24-hour emergency service, which responds to all emergencies, including medical emergencies. For a police or medical emergency, call 9-1-1. For all non-emergencies, call 951.827.5222.

ESCORT SERVICE

UCR has a volunteer escort service, which we encourage you to use when you walk on campus at night. The Women's Resource Services Office administers it. If you want to be escorted to any location on campus during the evening hours, call 951.827.3772. Hours are sundown until midnight, Sunday through Thursday. As volunteer escorts are always welcome, you might consider volunteering to help if you can afford the time.

INJURIES AND ILLNESS

Student Health Services (951.827.3031) is located in the Veitch Student Service Building. These services are available from 8am -11:30am and from 1pm - 4:30pm, Monday - Friday. If you become ill or sustain an injury when the Health Service is closed and do not feel you can wait until the next day to see a doctor, please contact the RA on duty. He or she will assist you in obtaining the medical attention you need. If immediate assistance is required, dial 9-1-1.

MEDICAL INFORMATION

If you are taking prescribed medication or under medical directions which may be necessary to know in case of an emergency, please let the Front Office know. This information will be kept confidential and will only be used by the staff in the event of an emergency.

MENTAL WELL-BEING

Psychological Services are available through the Counseling Center (951.827.5531). This center is also located in the Veitch Student Service Building. It is open from 8am-Noon and 1pm-5:00pm Monday-Thursday, as well as Fridays, 8am-Noon and 1pm-4:00pm. Again, if the Center is closed and you are in need of immediate assistance, contact the RA on duty or dial 9-1-1.

SAFER WALKWAYS

Safer walkways are walkways that the campus has identified as being safer. They are marked by green reflectors on the pavement. These walkways have increased illumination and less vegetation around them.

Emergency call boxes, directly connected to the Campus Police, have been placed at strategic intersections of the safer walkways and in campus parking lots. Remember, “Green Reflection---Safer Direction.”

SOLICITATION

If a solicitor comes to your door (1) do not open the door, (2) ask the person to leave, (3) call the Campus Police with an accurate description, and (4) notify the RSO. Solicitors are oftentimes assessing the prospects of successfully committing a crime in the area.

STAFF ENTRY

• International Village staff may enter your room for health and safety emergencies. Otherwise, a minimum of 24 hours notice will be given in writing.

• In your absence, International Village staff may enter your apartment to silence noise (e.g. alarm clocks, stereos, telephones, etc.) that result in complaints from your neighbors.

The Police will be contacted to conduct search and/or seizures for suspected violation(s) of University policy, state or federal law(s). If you have questions or concerns with regard to these policies, please direct your concerns, in writing, to the Community Manager, International Village, 1100 Everton Place, Riverside, CA 92507.
